For over 40 years I have been involved in life and business strategies, that when effectively executed, help a client achieve their business or personal goals.
My goal is to help a client improve their professional and personal wellbeing, so they personally thrive and their business flourish.
I have spoken frequently at conferences, on TV and radio, authored many articles, and co-authored several books and publications. My most recent book is Three Bridges – Adulthood is Easy Until Life Intervenes.
Having spent several decades working to promote British and American business interests & relationships, I was honoured to have been appointed by Her Majesty The Queen as an Officer of the British Empire (OBE), for my services to US and UK commerce.
I live in Westlake Village, California.
Since the 1970’s I have worked with hundreds of families and business owners across the globe and from many cultures. My roles have been as a trusted advisor, coach or board member, having served on over 25 boards.
Over the past few decades in addition to working with many clients, I have served as Chairman of my family-owned business holdings , managed single-family offices for wealthy families and their family businesses, was CEO of HSBC Private Bank in Southern California, and practiced as a Managing Partner at Arthur Andersen.
I am by training, a Chartered Accountant in the UK and a CPA in the US, but am retired from practice. I have doctoral and master’s degrees in Human Development & Professional Coaching from the International University of Professional Studies (IUPS) and an Economics degree from the London School of Economics (LSE).
Last, I have learnt volumes from my personal life ( the death of my daughter and collapse of Andersen as unfortunate examples), which has permitted me to withstand adverse life events and handle necessary transitions. This has taught me to learn some invaluable skills in how to address adversity, to develop resilience and successfully manage transitions.
I earned my Doctorate and Masters degrees in Human Development and Professional Coaching from the International University of Professional Services (IUPS) and also have an Economics degree from the London School of Economics. I am an academic faculty member at IUPS. My PhD thesis was on how positive psychology coaching can help address midlife.
Although no longer in practice I am a Fellow Chartered Accountant FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a retired member of both the American and California Institutes of Certified Public Accountants (CPA). For several years I have been a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the Harvard Institute of Coaching (IOC) and the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA). I am also a globally certified positive psychology coach.
